Highlights from Higher Ed: Strategic Task Forces and New Rankings

That’s how many graduate school disciplines were evaluated to create the U.S. News & World Report 2019 Best Graduate Schools list: business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing. This year, U.S. News updated the Best Graduate Schools methodologies by reducing the value of certain test scores and decreasing the emphasis on reputation in medical school research ranking.

That’s how many members will make up The University of Texas at San Antonio’s new Strategic Communications Task Force, part of the President’s Initiative on Strategic Communications. The Task Force’s mission includes creating a comprehensive, integrated marketing program, designed specifically to distinguish the school from other research universities in Texas and around the country.

That’s Syracuse University’s four-year graduation rate, according to U.S. News & World Report. In an effort to improve both the graduation and retention rates, SU has crafted a strategic enrollment plan to put a stronger emphasis on recruiting students from the southern and western regions of the country, as well as increase diversity of people with disabilities, international origins and more.

That’s how many more inquiries were received at the University of Montana in the past year, and it’s just one of several ways recruitment has changed with an enrollment vice president in place. Last week, this vice president explained how data provided at recent meetings explains the overall enrollment.
