Navigating Change in Postbac Enrollment: Turning Today’s Challenges into Transformative Outcomes

Will the pandemic create new interest in medical disciplines that will carry post-baccalaureate programs through these uncertain times, or will pipeline worries at the undergraduate level hurt enrollment in the years ahead?

One thing is certain: In both the short- and long-term future, the ability to inform decisions with reliable and accurate data has never been more important for institutions that help students enhance their academic credentials in order to continue pursuing a career in health care or medicine.

A national perspective

During Liaison’s on-demand webinar, Navigating Change in Postbac Enrollment: Turning Today’s Challenges into Transformative Outcomes, postbac enrollment leaders discuss how they adapted this year and how they’re planning to recruit and enroll their next class. Liaison also shares the latest data from its newly published “PostbacCAS Cycle Report,” which provides a national picture of the people, regions and feeder schools driving postbac enrollment today.

Panelists, who also provide their insights into which recent changes at their institutions will become permanent after the pandemic subsides, include:

  • Cassidy Chambers, Associate Director of Admissions, Rocky Vista University
  • Bart Gillum, D.Sc., Program Director, Post-Baccalaureate Pre-medicine Certificate Program, George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences
  • Robert Ruiz, Managing Director of PostbacCAS, Liaison

“There’s a lot of interest in health care professions right now. It’s on the forefront of everyone’s mind,” Chambers says. “It remains to be seen how that plays out through our admissions cycle this year, but we’re hoping that over the next couple of years we’ll get some really solid candidates who might not have otherwise considered getting into these professions.”

“Like most schools, we now need to do more with less. That applies to marketing, too,” says Gillum. “By understanding where our students are coming from, we can use fewer marketing dollars to really focus on those areas.”

The future is uncertain, and time is of the essence – so watch Navigating Change in Postbac Enrollment: Turning Today’s Challenges into Transformative Outcomes now.
