Prestigious award recognizes the highest standards of vision, innovation and achievement in oral health and dental education

George Haddad, Liaison’s founder and CEO, recently had the honor of presenting McGill University’s Faculty of Dentistry with the prestigious 2019 Gies Award for excellence in oral health and dental education. The ceremony took place during the American Dental Education Association’s annual meeting on March 18 in Chicago.

“The McGill University Faculty of Dentistry recognized the needs of the six million people living in Canada without access to dental care and had the vision to do something about it,” said Mr. Haddad. “Committed to helping to build a healthy and equitable society, the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University developed a series of activities for dental students to complete throughout their four years. That included learning about working in a mobile clinic that provides dental care for immigrant and refugee children, local children living in underprivileged communities, families living and working in poverty and people living with disabilities and complex medical problems,” he added.

Professor Elham Emami, the faculty’s dean, accepted the honor. “This award reinforces the faculty’s dedication to serving our community,” she said. “From our courses, to research and clinical activity, community is at the heart of what we do.”

Congratulations to all at the McGill University Faculty of Dentistry who made this significant accomplishment possible.
