At NAGAP 2015, Student Engagement Spurs Interest

The staff at Liaison were delighted to meet old friends and make some new ones at NAGAP’s 28th annual conference earlier this month. This leading graduate enrollment management conference drew over 900 people to New Orleans from April 8-10 to think through new approaches to graduate admissions, career development, marketing and recruitment, and more.

Sessions on how to engage prospective students more successfully were particularly popular this year, with more participants interested in how to convert admitted students into enrolled students. Jennifer Raab, Assistant Director of Events & Communications at Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) presented a session with Suzanne Sharp from Liaison on how to use integrated marketing strategies to identify potential students, how to engage them early with immediate and relevant content, and how to improve yield by mastering the multiple communications channels that students use today.

This popular session was standing-room only. You can download the slides here.

Some highlights of the talk included:

  • How TJU conducted highly targeted email and personalized print campaigns to encourage students to visit, apply, and enroll
  • How TJU was able to provide relevant and immediate content to engage prospective students more effectively using Liaison’s Enrollment Marketing Platform (EMP). The audience saw firsthand how personalized microsites are actually easy to set up with the right tools.
  • How TJU mastered multiple channels, including social media, direct mail, micro-sites, and campus visits, to make sure enrolled students didn’t “melt away.”

Liaison hosted a number of attendees at our revamped exhibitor’s booth, where staff members were happy to demo solutions like EMP, an enrollment marketing platform that can help admissions professionals become stellar marketers with easy-to-use engagement tools. Personalization is the cornerstone of EMP – and to bring the point home, we handed out personalized coffee cups (with Starbucks coffee of course!).

Attendees also had a chance to talk to staff about our cloud-based admissions management solutions, CAS, UniCAS, and WebAdMIT, which help enrollment professionals manage even the most complex admissions processes across schools and programs.

NAGAP is a great opportunity to connect with graduate admissions professionals from around the country. That’s why we were proud to sponsor the NAGAP Welcome Reception, which featured the CASmo—our twist on the Cosmo cocktail. Visitors came for the enrollment tech, but stayed for the triple sec!

We look forward to seeing all of our NAGAP friends next year in Nashville, Tennessee!
