Meet our leadership team

George founded Liaison International in 1990 and currently serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Under his guidance, Liaison has become a leader in higher education, providing recruitment, admissions management software, and Centralized Application Services (CASs™) for educational institutions and affiliated professional associations. Liaison plays an integral role in streamlining the admissions processes that allow institutions to advance their recruitment strategies, provide better access to education, and share best practices throughout the global education community.

George is an active board member of for-profit and nonprofit institutions that encourage scholastic achievement and personal excellence among students in the realms of K-12 and higher education.

Jim, Liaison’s chief financial officer, joined the company in 2013 after working for more than 25 years as a finance and accounting professional in the Massachusetts high-tech industry. Prior to his tenure at Liaison, Jim was chief operating officer and chief financial officer at NaviSite, Inc., a provider of enterprise-class hosting and managed cloud services which was acquired by Time Warner Cable in 2011. Jim has also held senior finance positions at Lanthorn Technology, Guardent, Inc. and Razorfish. He holds an M.B.A. from Northeastern University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Washington.

Sarah Coen joined the team at Liaison as Chief Growth Officer after 30+ years in the higher education industry. She has served in executive enrollment positions on college campuses and also spent nearly 20 years as a consultant and then Senior Vice President of Consulting Services at RNL. She brings extensive industry knowledge, campus experience, and a passion for leading teams to success.

Sarah has her bachelor's degree from Miami University and master's degree from Central Michigan University.

Eric is a proven Strategic Technology Director and Operations leader with over 20 years advancing startups and Fortune 500 enterprises within software, medical, and consumer product sectors.

Before Liaison, Eric served as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer at FXinnovation.

Prior to that he was Director, Business Integration for Merck.

He has a BAA and MIS from Université de Sherbrooke.

Dave, Liaison’s Chief Client Officer, is responsible for ensuring the success of the company’s admission management, and enrollment solutions. He oversees onboarding, adoption, support, and retention for Liaison’s customers. Dave brings a breadth of experience scaling operations, driving customer success and realizing strategic outcomes for clients across a number of industries. Prior to joining Liaison in 2018, he spent more than 20 years in senior leadership roles at Nuance Healthcare, Kronos, Be Free, and Open Market. He began his career at Andersen Consulting after graduating from Lehigh University with a B.S. in electrical engineering.

John is Liaison’s Chief Product Officer overseeing the full lifecycle of all edtech solutions, from conception and planning to development and go-to-market strategies. He has long distinguished himself as an innovator in the system applications and data management arena, focusing on customer-specific platforms. John, a cofounder and former chief technical officer at Othot, leveraged his extensive experience in developing SaaS platforms to build Othot’s unique advanced analytics platform.

Previously, he was the cofounder and CTO of Hiperos, a comprehensive SaaS solution in the 3rd-party management space, which was ultimately acquired by Coupa Software. He also led product solutions at Venafi in the early stages of the company. He has broad experience working in cutting-edge software companies, serving in critical technology leadership, sales engineering, and consulting roles for Oracle, SAP, and Ariba. John is a graduate of Penn State University, earning bachelor of science degrees in both Physics and Nuclear Engineering.

Andy is the President of the Liaison Othot, a higher education technology company that helps colleges and universities achieve their enrollment and student success goals. In 2014, Andy co-founded Othot with the mission of applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the student lifecycle. The Othot platform uses Machine Learning (ML) to enable institutions to predict student outcomes (e.g., enrollment, persistence, graduation, etc.) and produce insights and prescriptions that maximize the likelihood of student success.

Andy is also an Adjunct Professor of Business Analytics and an Entrepreneur-In-Residence at the University of Pittsburgh. At Pitt, Andy is developing and delivering curriculum/student experiences at the intersection of analytics and entrepreneurship that develop skills for graduates to be leaders in the blossoming business analytics field. In addition, he is a Senior Advisor and faculty member of the International Institute of Analytics.

Andy has been an entrepreneur since 1995, a calling that has stayed firmly with him ever since. He has played leading C-Level roles at five high tech start-ups over the past two-plus decades, and the resulting perspectives, learnings, and expertise are the cornerstones of his endeavors. Andy’s companies touched a range of industries such as ed-tech, information, software, consulting, and material science.

Mike, Liaison’s vice president of CAS Products, is responsible for providing strategic direction for the company’s technology plans, investments, and products. In this role, he guides the company’s platform development strategy. He joined Liaison in 2009 and has more than 10 years of experience providing ERP, CRM business intelligence, market data, and knowledge management software across the financial services market. He specializes in leading high-impact technology projects to success. Mike holds an M.S. in economics and a B.S. in computer science from Lehigh University.

Todd Abbott is a higher education leader with 28 years of experience. As Vice President of Business Development at Liaison, he works with leadership to identify strategic opportunities that strengthen Liaison’s market position. His expertise spans enrollment, marketing, and student retention, including leadership roles on campus and in the industry. A former Dean of Enrollment, Todd has served on the executive boards of PNACAC and NCCAA. He champions data-informed strategies that prioritize student success and institutional growth.

Kevin Butts, Liaison’s vice president of Lifecycle Products, joined TargetX in 2017 and has two decades of experience in management. Kevin holds a B.A. in economics from Holy Cross University.

Karen, Liaison’s vice president of account management, joined the company in 2014. A former assistant vice president of admissions at Thomas Jefferson University (T.J.U.), she works on the front line of Liaison’s program adoption strategic initiative, spearheading its most highly prioritized service recruitment efforts. Before joining Liaison, Karen spent over 10 years at T.J.U., leading the undergraduate and graduate admissions operation for the Jefferson Schools of Health Professions, Nursing, Pharmacy and Population Health. Prior to that, she managed admissions, financial aid, and enrollment management programs at Penn State Abington and Jacksonville University. Karen holds an M.A. in Professional Communication from La Salle University and a B.A. in International Relations and French from the University of Delaware.

Deb, vice president of CAS Operations, works extensively with Liaison’s association partners and their member institutions while also overseeing the company’s Customer Solutions Managers (CSMs) and training teams. Before coming to Liaison in 2004, Deb was director of admissions at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where she was responsible for the recruitment, admission, and retention of students applying to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program. Deb holds an M.S. in organizational development and leadership from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a B.A. in sociology from Wilkes University.

As the chief data science architect at Liaison Othot, Mark Voortman oversees and builds the engines that power Othot’s predictive analytics platform. He also created the Othot Data Science Language (ODSL) that is used to process analytics for colleges and universities. Voortman is passionate about building intelligent systems that solve important problems and his skills range from analyzing data science problems to designing and implementing technical solutions to solve them.

Voortman is an associate professor and director of the applied computer science program at Point Park University where he teaches a variety of courses including programming, databases, and business analytics. He also teaches graduate level courses in the MS in information systems and business analytics program as well as the business analytics concentration of the MBA program.

While pursuing his PhD, Voortman made several significant contributions to the GeNIe and SMILE software developed by the Decision Systems Laboratory, mostly related to learning Bayesian networks from data and causality. The software is used by universities and companies all over the world, including well-known brands such as Intel, Oracle, Boeing, and HRL Laboratories.

He earned his master's and bachelor's science degrees from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and his PhD in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

Hayley Wolf is Liaison’s Vice President of Sales and is responsible for all new business across the company’s full suite of product offerings. Spending over a decade in leadership across three campus enrollment offices as Director of Admissions, she has been at Liaison for the last 6+ years. She has also successfully founded, operated and sold two businesses. She is passionate about taking a consultative approach in assisting institutions of higher education with the right products and services to meet their enrollment and retention needs, ultimately better serving the college student population. She brings regional, mid-tier and selective enrollment and campus knowledge and is passionate about leading teams to success.

Hayley has her Bachelors degree from California State University Long Beach and Masters degree from Azusa Pacific University.

As Vice President of Human Resources, Erin leads all aspects of HR, including talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, and organizational strategy. With over 15 years of experience, she is dedicated to fostering a supportive and productive workplace while driving the company's business goals. Erin holds a B.S. in Business Administration from SUNY Geneseo and is passionate about implementing innovative HR strategies that enhance both individual and organizational growth.
