Liaison’s Leah Bianchi recently caught up with Lori Stout, admissions manager at Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Lori, who will be a presenter at the Liaison User Conference later this month, talks about her upcoming visit to Boston for the event.

Leah Bianchi (LB), Liaison: How long have you been with Purdue University? What did you do before this role?

Lori Stout (LS), Purdue University: I have been with Purdue University for 10½ years. I spent almost six years in admissions at Krannert School of Management Graduate Programs, and then I moved over to Purdue’s College of Veterinary Medicine as admissions manager.

(LB): How long have you worked with Liaison’s products and services? What has your experience with Liaison been?

(LS): I’ve worked with Liaison’s products for the last five years. I’ve had really positive experiences with Liaison. I love that they allow me to make my processes more efficient and streamlined.

(LB): What are you looking forward to at the Liaison User Conference?

(LS): I look forward to learning from other people. It’s hard sometimes to see how things can be done differently with your own processes. But to see how someone else may be using a product in their organization can really allow me to look at my processes a little more critically.

(LB): Do you frequent conferences like this one? If so, what tips do you have for attendees to help them get the most out of the conference?

(LS): Not as much as I’d like, but I’d say to get the most out of the conference you need to put yourself out there. Ask questions, network with others. Sometimes you learn the most from conversations with other attendees.

(LB): You submitted a session via our Call for Speakers, and we were quite excited to accept it! Can you give readers an overview of what inspired your proposal?

(LS): My proposal was inspired by my desire to share with other attendees about how utilizing WebAdMIT™ has created a better admissions process for my college. I’ve seen how the product has saved time and helped our processes run smoothly.

(LB): Who do you believe would get the most out of attending your session — for example, current CAS™ (Centralized Application System™) users, people considering a CAS, etc.?

(LS): I think those considering a CAS would be perfect for my session because they can see the transition of our process and how it evolved. It will allow them to see that it is possible to create a better process. Current CAS users may also be able to learn more about features that I am utilizing but that maybe they haven’t yet pulled the trigger on because they are not sure of their effectiveness.

(LB): Anything non-conference related that you’re looking forward to while you’re visiting Boston?

(LS): Yes, there’s a craft cider called “Downeast Hard Cider” that I fell in love with the last time I was here. I can’t get it back in Indiana, so I’m looking forward to enjoying one… or two.
