Survey Results

Your participation matters! We would love to hear if your test requirements changed or stayed the same for the academic year. Answer our 2-question, anonymous survey.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey(s). As a CAS, we are continually working to disseminate information to benefit the higher education profession. We will continue to do so the best we can and appreciate your help answering these hot topic questions.

Where does your institution complete application review for your programs?

  • Easy access to all data and ability to communicate with applicants.
  • It easily allows several reviewers to review and score applications in one system.
  • Ease, GPA calculations provided.
  • We like the automatic GPA calculations and the ability to add local GPA and pre-req GPA calculations. Because everything is online, our team can review applications from any location. We use the integrated email functionality to send updates to applicants as they move through the process.
  • We have reviewers and administrators in multiple locations. Using WebAdMIT allows everyone to access the system from anywhere. Using the tools and features of the system allows us to streamline the processing and review of the applications.

Misdemeanor and Felony Questions on the PostbacCAS Application

At Liaison, we have been closely following the national discussion about removing criminal history records questions from the admissions application.

To date, five states (Louisiana, Maryland, Colorado, New York and California) have enacted legislation that limits or prohibits the collection of criminal history information from applicants prior to rendering an admissions decision. In each case, schools may request criminal background information before a student matriculates. Currently, Virginia and Pennsylvania have bills on this topic moving through their state legislatures.

Recognizing that the movement towards excluding criminal and disciplinary history in making admission decisions will only continue to grow, we are removing the Misdemeanor and Felony questions from the Other Information tab under Personal Information on the PostbacCAS application for the 2021-2022 cycle.

If your state allows it, you may ask questions related to criminal and disciplinary action questions in the application’s Program Materials section. However, we recommend considering leaving these questions out of your PostbacCAS application altogether and collecting this information later in your admissions process. These questions can be added to the admitted student process as part of a background check or required supplmenetal form for matriculating students.

The PostbacCAS rollover webinar in June will cover best practices to manage this experience. In the meantime, we encourage you to refer to this AACRAO resource which outlines some best practices.

New CAS Releases

Preview Draft Programs in Prelaunch Environment

Once you’re done configuring your home page, branding, and additional sections in the Configuration Portal, you can preview how your program page will appear to applicants in the application. There are three methods to previewing your programs:

  1. In the Application Prelaunch Environment
Recently released in March, this method lets you use the application prelaunch environment to preview your program. Using the program settings, you’ll turn on Preview your programs in a testing environment. Your program must be in Draft status to preview this way.
  2. In the Configuration Portal
In this method, you can preview your program directly in the Configuration Portal. Use the eye icon to preview your program in program settings.
  3. Using a Test Program
If you require the ability to preview and work with applicants in WebAdMIT, this method allows you to submit a test application. Use the Configuration Portal to configure a test program and submit a test application in the prelaunch environment to see the test data in WebAdMIT.

For step-by-step directions to preview your programs using these methods, visit the Help Center.

Improved WebAdMIT Password Experience

WebAdMIT had a notoriously tricky password requirement making it hard to determine what part of the password didn’t meet the criteria. To simplify this process, the password formula has been updated and is displayed when updating your password. Passwords must:

  • Be at least 8 characters (previously, the requirement was 10 characters)
  • Include at least 1 uppercase letter (new)
  • Include at least 1 lowercase letter (new)
  • Include at least 1 number or 1 special character
  • Not be a common keyboard pattern (e.g., qwerty) or a common word (e.g., names)

Analytics by Liaison Updates

New filters have been added to the Academic History, Residency, and Submitted Designations by Application Status dashboards. The new filters allow you to easily search for application status and decision codes as well as other identifying attributes.

In the most recent release, a new visualization was added to the Application Progress dashboard. The visualization represents applicant progress for the Program Materials section of the application (i.e., the fourth quadrant).
