3 Ways to Get the Most Out of the 2018 Liaison User Conference

For years, we’ve hosted CAS and EMP Summits that bring together small groups of our valued customers. This year, we’re expanding these summits to provide what you, our valued partners, have been seeking — opportunities to share thought leadership, client speaking sessions, trainings and networking opportunities with your peers.

Taking place July 26-27 in Boston, the 2018 Liaison User Conference will focus on all of Liaison’s products and services: EMP, WebAdMIT, Time2Track and SlideRoom. Its two days of programming will include basic and advanced training sessions, networking opportunities and presentations by your peers in the field about marketing, recruitment and technology.

This is going to be a busy two days, so we’ve collected three suggestions to help you get the most out of your time at the conference.

1. Download (and use) the event guide.

Here’s what you can expect at the Conference:

  • 60+ interactive sessions about technology, marketing, recruitment and other higher ed topics that affect your day-to-day work.
  • 25+ training sessions about leading admissions products and services, including WebAdMIT, EMP, Time2Track and SlideRoom. Continuing Education Units available for some of these training sessions.
  • Networking opportunities that will allow you to benchmark against institutions like yours while learning from their proven best practices.

Since that’s a lot to cover in two days, you may be wondering how you’ll manage to make a schedule that works best for your goals. Well, there’s an event guide for that! Here’s how to download the guide:

Download the guide early so that you can peruse speaking session descriptions and speaker bios. You can even add sessions to create your own personal schedule.

2. Choose a “track” but mix it up, too.

To help you navigate the two days of programming, we’ve assigned each session one of the following “tracks”:

  • EMP
  • Higher Ed Trends
  • SlideRoom
  • Technology
  • Time2Track
  • WebAdMIT

If the session is focused on a specific Liaison product or service, it’s assigned to that track for ease of discovery. For instance, Move Over Predictive Modeling! Make Room for EMP’s Behavioral Analytics is on the EMP track since Brian Jones, Director of Admissions at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and Dr. Suzanne Sharp, Liaison’s Executive Director of Enrollment Management Consulting, will focus specifically on how MSU, Mankato leveraged EMP’s powerful behavioral analytics capabilities during this session.

Any sessions that are not focused on one specific product but are more broadly about higher education are categorized under Higher Ed Trends, and sessions that are related to multiple Liaison products are categorized under Technology. So what falls under Higher Ed Trends and Technology? Here are two examples:

  • During Why the Election Matters, Robert Ruiz, Liaison’s Vice President of Strategic Enrollment, will discuss how politics is impacting all education stakeholders. He’ll explore what’s on the horizon and how programs can adapt to help students navigate an increasingly uncertain landscape. That session is on the Higher Ed Trends track.
  • The Product AMA (Ask Me Anything) is an opportunity for you to ask our Vice President of Products, our Vice President of Implementation Services and one of our product managers, well, anything about our products. Since that session is related to EMP, SlideRoom, Time2Track and WebAdMIT, it’s categorized as Technology.

You can find the tracks by going to “Schedule” and then “Filter.” You’ll also find “tags” as another filter option. These will give you a little more insight into what’s covered in each session.

If you use one or two Liaison products already, you’ll likely be interested in those product tracks, but don’t let that limit you! We recommend that you also check out sessions related to products that you haven’t used before. You may just discover a new way to assess applicants’ creative skills or to track clinical training hours!

3. View meals as nourishing networking opportunities.

All of that learning is going to make you hungry! That’s why we’ve worked with the Boston Marriott Copley Place to plan delicious breakfast and lunch buffets, tasty snack breaks and a must-attend reception. Not only will you be delighted by the food available during each of these mealtimes, but these are great opportunities to network with colleagues from across the U.S.! Use meals and breaks as an opportunity to engage with people you haven’t met yet. After all, conference badges that include titles and institutions make it very easy to strike up a conversation! You already know you have at least one thing in common: You use or are planning on using Liaison’s family of products and services to streamline your admissions and recruitment processes. Now, find out what your admissions colleagues are doing differently and share some of your best practices as well while you’re at it.

July 26 will be here before you know it. Register for the Liaison User Conference today!
