Evolving Admissions to Better Serve Students from Diverse Backgrounds

May 11, 2017

The path to your career used to be simple. You graduated high school, enrolled in college full time, completed your studies on campus and entered the workforce. The experience that you gained before college fit neatly into standard boxes, making it realistic for a common application to streamline the process across all of your institutions of interest.

Every year, new paths are established as students take different routes to the same higher education goal. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, tomorrow’s undergraduate class is full of students who began their higher education career at two-year colleges. These students will learn beside those who chose to start their education outside of the classroom, serving their country in the military before making their way to your campus. And they’ll benefit from the perspectives of their adult classmates who are returning to higher education to complete degrees or beginning post-secondary education for the first time.

Today’s students come from diverse backgrounds. Our applications must help them communicate the value of their unique experiences so that we can build the best class possible. Learn more about how Liaison is partnering with the Common App to innovate the undergraduate application, promoting access to higher ed for today’s increasingly diverse applicants.
