Case Study: NursingCAS is Helping Schreiner University’s School of Nursing Thrive
In the spring of 2011, Schreiner University adopted NursingCAS to help with processing applications, verifying transcripts, evaluating applications, freeing staff to focus on other critical activities such as student outreach and relationship-building.
Like many rural areas in the U.S., Texas Hill Country needed more qualified B.S.N.-prepared nurses to staff its local hospitals and clinical sites. In 2010, Schreiner University, a private liberal arts institution in Kerrville, TX—about an hour from San Antonio—decided to establish a new School of Nursing to better serve patients at regional facilities in and around Fredericksburg and Peterson, TX.
Creating new curriculum, hiring faculty, and recruiting students left administrators with little time to publicize a new nursing program. In early 2010, filling seats and managing applications manually was proving difficult and time-consuming. Administrators knew it would be critical to identify a solution that could help manage the admissions process and promote the program to prospective students.
