A Cultural Convergence: There’s So Much More Than Pharmacy on the Agenda at This Year’s ASHP Midyear Meeting

Health-system pharmacy practitioners can’t be blamed for assuming that conversations at the upcoming American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition in Las Vegas will be dominated by pharmacy shop talk — but that would be a mistake.

In fact, featured speakers include two of America’s most famous women in fields that have nothing to do with pharmacy: former Secretary of State and current Stanford University professor Condoleezza Rice and multiple Emmy Award-winning actor and producer Julia Louis-Dreyfus, best known for her iconic roles in Seinfeld, Veep and other shows.

Of course, there will be plenty to discuss regarding the pharmacy profession, as well.

A decades-long tradition of dialogue

The ASHP bills its annual midyear gathering, now in its fifty-fourth year, as a forum for health-system pharmacy practitioners to update their knowledge, network with colleagues, enhance their skills and learn about the latest products and technologies. With hundreds of educational activities designed to help enhance the skills and abilities of pharmacists and associated health-systems professionals, this event is the premier gathering of leaders and your peers in the field.

That’s why Liaison will be there. ASHP provides an ideal opportunity for us to learn about the most important challenges and priorities at your school’s pharmacy program and to share insights about how you can best address them using our Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application ServiceTM (PhORCASTM).

PhORCAS, which is a partnership between ASHP Accreditation Services and Liaison, had 2,957 participating programs throughout the 2019 match year cycle. All told, 8,066 applicants submitted 88,375 applications through the service.

PhORCAS is a web-based tool that brings residency application materials together in one location, streamlining workflows and making life easier for students and admissions professionals alike. By centralizing and simplifying the residency recruitment process, it decreases the administrative burden that comes with paper applications. PhORCAS not only offers benefits for residency programs, but also for resident applicants and their reference writers.

PhORCAS makes it easy to:

  • Incorporate a holistic approach in your cloud-based admissions processes.
  • Shorten decision-making cycles, optimize data management and improve communications with applicants and prospects.
  • Increase transparency and accountability in the admissions process by creating an audit trail.
  • Integrate Liaison’s SaaS-based platform with most existing SIS and/or ERP systems
  • Mine a wealth of data to analyze information pertinent to recruiting efforts, yield analysis, program reviews and applicant trends.

If you plan to attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition, please visit Liaison at booth #2046 so we can talk more about how PhORCAS can help your program attract and admit the best-fit pharmacy students you’re looking for.

We look forward to seeing you there.
